Language course for university graduates in Arts and Humanities

The AQUA Migration Academic Program of the Otto Benecke Foundation is designed for immigrants who have graduated from a post-secondary institution in their country of origin.
The three-month special language course in German is designed for university graduates between 30 and 50 years of age who have obtained a degree in Arts and Humanities in their country of origin (e.g. Law, Linguistics, History, Journalism, Art, Sociology, Physical Education, Education, Psychology).Their degrees have been recognized only formally but not in content as equal to German standards.
Course Aims
- Improvement of common language competence
- Improvement of special language competence
- Introduction to academic working procedures and techniques which enable the participants to continue their studies on their own.
Course Contents
The special language course comprises 480 teaching hours with emphasis on the following topics:
- Common language competence
- Communicative competence
- Professional competence
- Special language competence
- Media competence (data processing, Internet)
In addition to experienced instructors, guest speakers will deliver lectures on specific topics. Moreover, the participants will get into contact with the professional world outside the classroom so that they will be able to develop realistic career concepts.
Dates and Registration
The course starts every three months.
Next course is expected to start spring 2012.
