These courses are designed for all those who are employed and wish to extend their range of linguistic competence for their daily work. The courses are offered both for employees whose native language is German, and for speakers of other mother tongues. The courses take into account the individual needs of the participants who are invited to make their own choices in designing and selecting

the language skills (writing, speaking, reading, listening)

topics such as making appointments, opening meetings, taking minutes, writing progress reports, or engaging in informal conversation

learning material (materials taken from professional practice, textbooks, and scripts)

methods of instruction (e.g., group work, role plays, guidance with regard to autonomous learning, etc.)

media of instruction (video camera, video tapes, PC, internet, cassettes, overhead projector, etc.

Individual telephone training activities and pronunciation drills in the multimedia language lab are also part of the course.

Before the course starts, we offer you – free of charge – an individual or a group-specific placement test, as well as a conversation regarding the scheme and objective of the course.

Individual Training

These courses apply to experts and executives who wish to improve their language competence. The courses take into account the individual needs of the participants.

We also arrange, on request, meetings with representatives from various spheres of public life such as news media, politics, administration, and business.

The participants of the course are invited to make suggestions with regard to

the language skills (writing, speaking, reading, listening)

topics such as making appointments, opening meetings, taking minutes, writing progress reports, or engaging in informal conversation

learning material (materials taken from professional practice, textbooks, and scripts)

methods of instruction (e.g., group work, role plays, guidance concerning autonomous learning, etc.)

Telephone training activities and pronunciation drills in the multimedia language laboratory are also part of the course.

Telephone Training

Making phone calls in a foreign language represents an essential part of today’s professional life. Surveys among business firms have repeatedly stressed the crucial importance of telephone competence in German.

The course is designed for both foreign staff and for employees with German as their mother tongue who want to overcome their “fear” of using the phone and to improve their telecommunicative competence.

The telephone training consists of:

By means of our multimedia language lab, we are able to create telephone simulations in a natural setting which helps you to express yourself correctly on the phone, to become aware of, and to successfully apply specific telecommunicative strategies.

The course covers 6 x 2 contact hours.
The fee for group classes is 185 EURO including course materials.
